Start of a Success Story
Originally developed for his own use, Mr Albert Gnehm sen. starts to build his first Rockwell hardness
tester in the late 20s and thus lays the foundation of today's GNEHM AG. Through continuous
improvement and modernization, his son Alfred Gnehm jun. ensures the company a leading position
worldwide as a manufacturer of innovative hardness testers - Quality made in Switzerland

Digital Age Entry
In 1992 after the early death of Albert Gnehm jun. Mrs. Sylvia Scherer-Ospel becomes responsible for
the management. Under her leadership, the digital hardness tester "SwissMax 300" is developed
already in 1996. Further development in the field of equipment and ease of use leads ultimately to
"SwissMax 600" and Gnehm’s own GMS software. Even today, this universal hardness tester is
setting standards: An all-rounder with plenty of comfort and reliable precision - Quality Made in

New impetus for the future!
Mrs. Scherer-Ospel retires from GNEHM Härteprüfer AG, after 40 years. Mr. Roger Deuber becomes
the new owner; Mrs. Felizitas Glunz takes over as managing director. For the coming decade, once
again further optimizing of hardness tester and its software is in focus of business activities. A first
step is the Swiss Pacer, already developed with the participation of Roger Deuber. More automated
